C John Tavares, who is second on the Islanders with seven points in nine games, has made a quick impression on two-time NHL MVP Alex Ovechkin and his Washington coach, Bruce Boudreau.
“He was taken first overall. He has to be good,” Ovechkin said.
“He knows what to do with the puck. The instincts you can’t teach people, he has in spades,” Boudreau added. “That’s why he’s going to be a great player in this league.”
