The Blues had another slow start Thursday, followed by a good second period. “A step in the right direction, but we still weren’t as strong,” C David Backes said. “You see our game in the second period, when we were spending a lot of time in their end … that’s the way we need to play, but we need to play that way right from the get-go.”
